should marigolds be pinched if they appear to be getting leggy when the sprout ?
pinching marigolds
Most seedlings benefit from pinching, except the ones that just branch out from a central point. Do it between the first and second sets of true leaves (not including the cotlydons, or seed leaves).
Can marigold plants that normally get quite large without pinching be size-controlled by pinching to keep them more compact?

ijust pinched mine the other day because they were looking leggy. In a couple of days I'll see if it stimulates side growth.
jordung,
Were they already planted outside, or under lights inside?
I'll be very curious to hear about your progess with pinching. I have a boulevard area where the plants must be kept short. I have a variety of very robust marigolds that I'd like to use for fillers. However, I can't let them get too tall. If pinching is not an option, then that plan won't work.
