has any one tried to bonsai a birds nest spruce they have naturally thick trunks i see some potential

Yes, I picked up a seedling from Walmarts approx 7 years ago.
It turned out to be a very nice Bonsai but finally succumbed this past
year. It had a nice thick trunk and with some meticulous pruning
had an interesting branch structure,
