Hello,
My question is, are there plants whose vine will grow along a piece of tightly strung twine?
I have a covered patio in my backyard. I am thinking of putting a plant in a pot, training it up the support post for the patio, and then stringing twine between the two support posts. I'm hoping a nice flowering vine would grow along the twine. I orginally thought of clematis, but I'm thinking that one will be too heavy. Preferably, something that would attract hummingbirds and butterflys.
I guess I am wondering if the twine would be strong enough to support the weight. I have never grown a climbing plant, outside of a rose, so this is new to me.
Thanks for any tips.

growing a vine on twine?
Maybe Cardinal Climber...it's light, and attracts hummers.
Just a guess, as I don;t know if it will vine up the twine on its own or not.
Cardinal Climber, what kind of plant is that?
A vine........... :-)

Cypress Vine, Cardinal Climber. Looks really pretty.
Thanks
Sure....my hummers really like it. :-)
Morning glory will do that. I have it on fishing line some years. It looks like it is just growing out of the air. Kind of neat.
I could grow Cardinal Climber on one side, and Morning Glory on the other side.
Thanks for the info.

That would be pretty :-)
YES the cardinal climber does wrap around twine! I love that vine and am trying new ones this year! You can't beat the red color!
