Anyone in the UP grow Garlic?

I want to try and grow garlic has anyone tryed to grow it. I have no idea if you take the bulb or a clove and stick it in the ground?
What should I do.

Down here in the Detroit area I grow it, and I plant it by cloves. I think it should do well up there. Garlic is pretty hardy.

Do you have to plant garlic in the fall, or can you plant some this spring?

I have planted mine in the spring and it is ready by fall. It does self seed if you don't dig it up. It is coming up all over in my veggie garden.

Thanks eveyone for the input What do you think about growinng in the house will it work? or should I buy and ice cream bucket put some holes and stick it outside any one help with that
