Hello Friends
My spring is still to come.... we can't even think about planting a perrenial till Mothers day. I live in a mountain ski resort, and my season is pretty short. But when it is here it is extremely hot for plants.
We are under a water restriction, and believe it or not I planted fake grass for a customer the other day because we are not allowed up here, due to drought 7+ years, to plant the real thing.
My problem is I am an old Armstrong Garden Center employee, from down Santa Monica way (Zone 24) and now I am in zone 3-4. I need to find xera plants, and because of my short season I have to buy LIVE plants.
Now I bought some stuff from Forest Farms, that was not bad, but they are $7 each. plust shipping.
Does anybody know where I might find a cheaper sorce with a reasonable plant to offer customers within my short season?
Your help would be so much appreciated as I need to order very soon.
Thank you all for your help... and many returns of the day!!
Abby
I need your help to find a plant source!
Do you own a nursery? Are you a landscaper? I guess having a little more information about the quantities you're wanting and how you plan to use them would be a little helpful. Are you wanting perennials, annuals, shrubs, trees, or something else? It's hard to want to recommend anything without more information.
Here's a link to several California cactus & succulent sources, if that's what you'd like:

I also suggest you try Yucca Do in Texas. They send great things. You might also try Miles to Go in Tucson and Bob Smoley's Gardenworld in Pennsylvania. Go to http://www.cactus-mall.com and click on "Nurseries."
Hope this helps. Wish I knew of some good California natives nurseries near you.

You can check out High Country Gardens at http://www.highcountrygardens.com/. Not cheap, but they specialize in xeriscaping with tough, dependable varieties.
