My first feeble attempt

This is Chaenomeles x superba 'Crimson and Gold'

I made a cutting, rooted it two years ago. It spent last year in a two gallon pot. Three weeks ago I potted it into the green pot you see in this photo.

I would like to know if anyone else out there is doing Quince, and if they have any tips on when I should begin with wire to bend it to the shape I'm hunting for.

Same plant today. Does anything appear to be ready for shaping?

I'd sure start now but I'm not an expert.

Years ago, when they started to remove aluminum wiring from houses (fire hazard) I accumulated a lot of aluminum wire that I stripped from the covering. It's softer than copper and I love it for wrapping and training branches.

hiya darius,

Thanks for the tip, we have tons of aluminum wire here that we use for electric fencing to keep our horses from eating the fences.
