Melva, that is for sure a Clematis 'Felix Adorabilis', group 1 - no pruning! Not an easy identification, but the leaves and the thorns(sp?) leave o doubt. LOL

LOL, I think that is one of those new "hybrid" varieties that do not like much water. ;~)
