I'm so confused.... can someone tell me the name of this Datura. I thought it was Wrightii but it does not have a fragrant smell.

Judy, actually it is pretty difficult to tell the difference between Datura wrightii and Datura inoxia since both have such similar characteristics. Dr. Preissel in his book describes the differences, but they are very slight. He talks about the size and width of the flowers as well as their peaks. ABADS attempts to clarify this issue. Here's the link: http://www.americanbrugmansia-daturasociety.org/datura_inoxia.htm

Thank you very much for the link.
Judy
Gosh MaVie, such a small difference but you pinned it down. You are absolutely right about it being Datura Innoxia. Here is what the ABADS website had to say
"Corolla teeth at midpoint of each
section are larger (giving the
appearance of a ten-toothed
flower), flower edge wavy and
show no color tinge at corolla
edge (flower is solid white)
subspecies innoxia
Also known as D. inoxia, or
sometimes D. meteloides due to
historical confusion"
Judy
Datuta wrightii bloom has tinge of blue along the edge... whereas D. innoxia is pure white bloom.
Datura wrightii is formerly Datura metel var. rubra. here is whole plant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacred_Datura , http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/cgi/img_query?where-taxon=Datura+wrightii see the bluish/lavender margin along the edge of the flower?
