We just started our aspargus last year and spring is here. My question is should we pull what looks like just dried up sticks or leave it alone? Thanks for any and all suggestions! Denise
Asparagus?
Yeah, clean up the leftovers from last year, and soon you will see the new spears beginning to pop through the soil.
I've read that you shouldn't harvest the asparagus until the third year too.
I started a new bed last year too, and I'm anxiously waiting for spring of 2006 so I can harvest some of it. I'm lucky though, that I have a smaller bed that's a few years older, so I do get a little each spring.
Oh Thankyou, I'm so looking forward to this and yes I've heard you can't harvest the first couple yrs. Want to make sure we do it right and am grateful for DGs' help here! Thanks Again! Denise
