Where Should i plant Hop Humulus Lupulus?

I just got a new climber a hop 'humulus lupulus' at a market stall yesterday and i'm not sure whether to plant it in the sun or in the shade. The place i'm thinking of is shady and damp, would it thrive there or am i better planting it somewhere where it can get the benefit of full sun. either would be ok tho

plant it in shade or sun. it will grow about 20 feet each year then die back underground.

NOTE it can run underground and appear nowhere near where you planted it. it also attracts way too many aphids

lol, i get enough of those to start with, ive been trying to attract hoverflies to attack them

also you need to get a male and female plant if you want to get seed heads, to dry, for country cottage type ceiling arrangements.
