I bought a small bundle of these at a whole foods store. They were supplied by J&D produce out of Edinburg TX, a "Little Bear" brand. They are the best carrots I've ever had and very pretty, maroon in color. So far I've checked 5 different seed catalogs and googled them but haven't found a source for seeds. Any one know where I might get some seeds?
Beta Sweets carrots
They sound intriguing, so I looked them up as well.
Here's what I found:

So I guess seeds aren't available.
There is an open pollinated variety called "Purple Dragon" which sounds a lot like Beta Sweets. You may want to try them instead. I may want to try them too! : )
Good luck!
Rhonda
Thanks Rhonda, I also found the Purple Dragon seeds at John Scheepers kitchen garden catalog. They are probably the same thing. I may look a few more days before I try them and see what I can find out.
Try www.johnnyseeds.com
He has one called Cosmic Purple + some other specialty types.
Bernie
Thanks Bernie, I'll check that out. These carrots are really good, but all fresh home grown are too. I think these must be extra high in betacarotene.
