Greenhouse in area of high winds??

Whitney Point, NY(Zone 4b)

I live close to the top of a big hill, and we regularly get some high winds, sometimes steady for a day or two at a time. It's pretty open here, so no trees to use as a windbreak.

I am very concerned that I could go to the expense of putting up a greenhouse, only to come home and see it blown over the other side of the hill. I'd want a medium-sized greenhouse, 20' x 40' (don't really know the dimensions). Also, what about snowload? We get a lot of snow here in cental New York. Thanks for your help.

I cemented mine in!!!
I live on flat open farm land-we have almost a constant wind everyday! :(

We have an Atlas Snow Arch, 24 X 48. It sits on a hiilside with no protection to the south. It is 5 miles to the nearest tree. No probelm. We haven't had a snowfall to test that part. Our other house is built the same way, but a different company. It sheds the snow real well. Check it out at:

I see they are listed in garden watchdog also.

Thanks for the info, and especially for the link to Atlas!

I was going to put in a picture, but it was kind of late night, so here it is as we were erecting the Atlas.
