has anyone tried a boxwood got one at wallyworld today in a one gallon container has really nice exsposed root system am i on to something or just dreamin

Depending on type, but most boxwoods make great bonsai. The smaller the leaf the better unless you are going for a larger bonsai.

We have some beautiful boxwoods at my work.
Like kjantz said- they can make stunning Bonsai.
They are also very easy to care for and the ones we have seem to grow pretty dang fast and have a nice bushy top.

I tossed one on the ground without a pot- in the florida heat it grew right there and is still alive today. It had no care as I wasnt here for months.

Palmyra, VA(Zone 7a)

I had a Kingsville boxwood, for the last 5 years. I died almost 2 months ago, we were away from home and it got dry. I was able to rescue the other two, both are Japaness box. One with a trunk of at least 2.5" diameter. I reduced from over 4 ft to about 1.5ft 4 yrs ago. This spring I will reduce the height again, and trim the roots. Will pot pictures when I get the chance.
