Finally was able to get Blood Turnip (Wetzels seeds) from Merrifield gardens. Have the bed prepared. As soon as this wind calms down a bit into the ground they go. Maybe Monday. Of course they will be accompanied by Chicago Red, Early Wonder, Red Ace and whatever else I have left over from last year.
Time to plant the beets.
Farmer, I envy you a little bit, wish I could start mine but it's still muddy after all the rains we've gotten lately. I haven't even been able to get onto it to spread my manure. Just hope it dries enough to plant my 'taters in couple of weeks.

Yep, cant have both it ways I guess. I am on a sandbar, dries out quickly, a big advantage in the spring but a big disadvantage in the summer.
Mine is loamy clay, just the opposite as your's. I didn't have to water at all last summer, but with all these spring rains, right now it's just muck! Didn't have this problem last spring.
