I went to our local nursery today, of course I began to drool over everything that I couldn't afford but really REALLY want, and I saw that they had purple flowered akebia triloba, absolutely gorgeous!!! They were about 3 to 4 feet tall and have flower buds on!!! I can't really afford one right now, but if they haven't sold them all by the end of next month, they may mark them down....Anyway, my question is, I have a white flowered akebia quint~5 leaf~ and I was wondering if I could cross the tri~3 leaf~ and the quint to get the fruit since I heard that you have to have two different varieties to produce fruit. Or, do you have to have tri to tri and quint to quint?
Thanks,
Raven
Akebia Question
Hi Raven.
I have the white and the purple Akebia and they most assuredly will cross, make sure you label the seeds off each plant, as the seeds will be the color of the plant, hopes this helps.
