Let the seam out of pants

My son had a suit made for him while in Asia (in Navy) and it is now a bit too small at waist/fanny. So I took the pants to the dry cleaner/tailor to have it let out an inch and cleaned. She let it out an inch at the waist and then some down the back seam and I can see where the original seam was. Is there anything I can do? The waist doesn't matter because he will be wearing a belt but the back seam does.
