Paph. Song of Mississippi

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

This just opened three days ago. Paph. Song of Mississippi (who names these plants?!) is a cross between P. Maudiae and P. glaucophyllum. The resulting hybrid has sequential flowers like the glaucophyllum parent. Normally I get two flowers per spike, this year I got three. Each flower opens one-at-a-time and lasts about 8 weeks. The first bloom opened Sept. 16, which means when this last flower fades, the spike will have been blooming over 6 months! I've had this orchid since 1993 and it never misses a year without flowering.

growing since 1993, you probably have a nice specimen size plant here. Pretty flower!

Beautiful.
