Snail Vine Support

I thought that snail vine needed supports like trellises to cling to, but some of the pictures I've seen here seem to show them clinging to stucco walls. Do they attach themselves that easily?

Mine seems to act more like morning glories in wrapping themselves around objects or other plants.
Mine do not produce the aerial type roots needed to cling to stucco. Perhaps someone else has more experience as I keep mine more confined to a container and trellis.

Mine is in a container also. It doesn't have aerial type roots. There is a related plant called the corkscrew vine, but I don't think it clings either.
