Turning off modem dial sound..

Since I'm up and running again, with a new modem, it is very loud while connecting. Much louder than my other one was. I remember reading some time back how to go into certain settings and "turn off the sound" of the modem...I'd sure like it to be quiter again. Does anyone have the answer? (I'd be more than happy to send you a dead chicken for payment!) :>)
