Compaq pc won't accept Pretec DC 600 camera

I've tried to install but cannot get pc to accept it. The camera inst.said go to start..run..type in E:/setup and hit ok. When I do this a note appears saying E or none of it's components could be found.
Anyone have a clue? Maybe wrong camera?
Thanks for any advice.
