Aristolochia gigantea

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I am cutting this plant back and thought I might try to root some of the cuttings. Anyone got any tips on rooting these?

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

I have rooted them before and have about fa 50% success rate. What worked best for me was rooting in peat with bottom moisture and bottom heat. Slow to root.

Thanks Lisa. Do I need to cut right below a leaf node or leave some stem below the node?

Brookeville, MD(Zone 7a)

It might be easier to lay them lengthwise on peat and make small abrasions at the nodes. It seems to yeild higher success rates with thin vines.

I tried rooting Aristolochia cuttings sent in trades numerous times with no results. But that was inserting them into the medium.

OK, I'll try that way too. I haven't been very successful rooting this vine in the past.

It is not easy, that is for sure. I cut mine just below the leaf node and removed almost all the leaves. And dont forget the rooting hormone.

Glad you reminded me! I always forget that stuff.
