How to propigate?

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I just went to Home Depot and bought some new African Violets. A couple of them had leaves that were breaking off. I would like to pot these to make new ones. They have the leaves and a little of the stem. What do I do? Do I stick the stem in the soil or do I just stick the leave in the soil? I also have some rooting powder. Should I use this? Thank you.

I am not real good at this but have seen my mom place them through foil into water in shallow small bowl and root them . I just don't have her great big green thumb. am sure others will come along with other Ideas. Good Luck!

Hi Jesse,
We've had a few threads on this forum on propagating from leaves. Try looking through them. This is one of them: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/448557/

There are also threads on mini leaves and AV leaves, and a pic of my make-shift propagation box etc.
