Sun Porch ideas?

Dayton, WA

My equal half and I have decided to build, or have built, a sun porch to add on to the back of our house. We essentially want a greenhouse added on to our house, complete with an outside entrance and vents. Can anyone direct us to plans, pictures or places for ideas?

I think Charlie's Greenhouse sells those.

Look at www.charleysgreenhouse.com Charley's is a northwest company, located in Mt. Vernon, Washington. We bought a greenhouse from them and saved freight by picking it up ourselves. They also have a nice retail store, and a catalog that will have you drooling!

Thanks everyone for your input and the helpful links. We don't have a clue as to how to construct a greenhouse or sun-porch, but we are going to learn! Many thanks again to all of you!

The folks at Charley's are very knowledgable and helpful, they don't just sell greenhouses, they build them! They also have a quick frame kit that includes instructions if you want a wood frame, just the polycarbonate panels if you want to build part of it yourself and then add the coverings or whole greenhouses in several styles and sizes ready to assemble. The instructions that came with ours were easy to understand and everything fit together.

Here's my collection of greenhouse plan links and some of the plans I've created:

An article about attached greenhouses:

Check out the books for good plans also.

Sundance supply has a free design guide that walks you through the framing process: http://www.sundancesupply.com/
and is a good source for polycarbonate.

PS: I spent a lot of my childhood in Dayton, WA! Dayton days, Shorties, Lover's lane, the Depot, Blue Mountain skiing, etc. I grew up near Seattle but had frequent visits to my Grandma who lived there. Great small town. Is the Green Giant still there? I miss the asparagus fields & Walla Walla sweets.

Hello jozeeben!

Wow! Not only did you provide some excellent links and great photos of your own greenhouse frame, but you're also familiar with our locale! Sadly, I must report that the Green Giant plant here is closing. No one seems to know what will happen to the facility. The Asparagus fields and Walla Walla Sweet Onions are still here...

My equal half and I are really getting excited about our greenhouse project, and your information added fuel to the fire! Many thanks again, from both her and me.
There really isn't much mystery involved in growing lettuce. Getting it through the hot months of Summer is a real challenge though, and I'm still working on that. I'll be more than happy to answer any questions about lettuce that you may have - fire away!
