I am in a cool area of hawaii....we really don't get above 85.(generally 75-82)
What kind of iris would you suggest I grow for cutting?
dutch? siberian? thanks!
iris for cutting
I'm not familiar with your climate and how cold it gets - if it gets cold (32 or below) at all. But, I bet that Louisianas, Tall beardeds, Border Beardeds, and Spuria's should do quite well. Dutch Iris too maybe.
Siberians require really cold, cold weather to bloom. I wouldn't try those where you live - - they'd probably never bloom. Intermediates and Dwarf irises also need cold temps for an extended amount of time to bloom. They bloom very well in the mid to northern states/cooler climates of the US and further north. (Not so well in the southern states where winters are mild and warm).
Irises make lovely cut flowers. When you make your bouquets - - make sure you take and post the photos here for all of us to see. It would be a real treat to see. (smiles)
