We just had a burst of thunder snow here in Richmond, VA! I saw the flash of lightening, but didn't realize it was snowing until my husband called out. It's sticking to the mulch (33 degrees out) and cars but not the road. There was a strong downpour about half an hour ago- all rain, now snow. Doesn't look like it will amount to much, that's alright with me!

we had the same thing a few times in NOV when we got snow=i thought it was really cool to have a snowstorm and thunder and lighting!!!
We had that a week or so ago when 2 fronts collided.
Well, it ended up being almost an inch of snow over ice- lots of wrecks around town!
Hi all, just saw this thread & thought I'd toss in my 2 cents' worth from the great white north - there was thunder-snow reported last fall in Estevan, southern Saskatchewan, zone 3a. I've seen sunshowers on the prairies fairly often, but never much thunder-snow! Wonder how tall that cumulo-nimbus cloud had to be?!
