I didn't see your picture, but if it is called Crown Vetch it is like an ivy runner, it spreads with veny small lavender flowers, they use it here on steep banks.

http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/474034/ This is the one she is talking about, Doris. I'm not familiar with it, but I'm sure someone out there can answer your question. If I find time, I'll see if I can find something online about it. I found this site, http://plants.usda.gov/cgi_bin/plant_attribute.cgi?symbol=VIVI and according to it, this plant has a vining habit. (If this is the same thing Terry posted)

It is hard to tell but the crownvetch that the highway uses for steep banks, have a small lavender to purple flower, and it spreads fast

on the id forum is a very close up of the flower. they are actually tiny purple pea like flowers. i saw it growing on a bush and thought it was the bush. it may have been a vine using the bush for support. some one told me it was a bush vetch. i thought it was pretty since it was still blooming.

We grow it for wildlife forage here. It climbs up everything and is quite beautiful.
