Fayette, MO(Zone 6a)

At a 2:00 AM barn check I found my new highly anticipated calf. A beautiful new Hereford bull calf. I never do seem to get to see this heifer have her calf. I was nervous for her , since she lost her calf last winter. I checked at 10 PM... She was worrying about, and I thought she might have it in the middle of the night. .. I came back to the house and put some towels in the microwave to warm them up. He was shivering and still wet when I found him.. I dried him off, Mom is very gentle, but anyone that has been around these large animals knows you still approach with caution. She didn't seem to mind at all when I put him under the heat light... That really perked him up... He was confused about which end had breakfast, but He happily found it.

My 10 hour shift will seem like eternity today.. At least Hubby gets off earlier and can check on his progress. Everyone have a geat day!
