quarter round moulding question

I have a bunch of synthetic quarter round moulding to nail/glue to baseboard molding. I was going to get to it this AM but a friend said I need a special type of adhesive since it is the synthetic, not real wood, kind. I didn't want to go to store so I did something else but tell me what is it I need? special adhesive or finishing nails or both?
