Can I get some opinions on Dell

computers? My computer has died : ( and I am looking to buy. I really like the customizing feature on the dell site, but am having problems spending $2000 without seeing the product or at least hearing from some people who have them.

I don't have any experience with Dell expect for our computer at work, I HATE it, but I was told that the person who had it before me didn't know anything about computers and "did something" to it ??? and they are too cheap to have someone actually come and work on it.

What is your opinion? I've had a HP and a Compaq and liked them both just don't know anyone with a dell.
