Plants in habitat, Antelope Valley, CA
California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica)
Photo taken in 1991. Not all years are this good.
that's a huge patch of poppies lol looks good!
What's amazing, to me, is that this is totally natural. No one planted them. They just come up on their own, provided there is enough rain and it comes at the right time.
wow that's great...
It's almost like a dream.
When I was in college (in PA, where I grew up), I had a friend who had a poster of the poppy fields and it said Antelope Valley, CA. I figured that was some remote place that ordinary people like me would never see. It never crossed my mind that I would some day live about a 75-minute drive from that location.
that's great! where were you in PA? :) i live in a small town outside of lancaster...
I lived in the suburbs of Pittsburgh.
oh that's cool that's not too far...:) do you like california better than pa?
I do like CA better than PA. After having lived out west, PA seems almost claustophobic. I haven't missed the snow and cold for a minute, either.
lol i don't like the cold but don't you have earthquakes there?
Yes, we have earthquakes, but only once in a while.
i would hate to have earthquakes lol
Everything is a tradeoff. ;-)
I use to go there when We live in Orange County to see the fields, just beautifull, and I can't believe the ones I'm growing here are still in bloom!!!!
Earthquakes, most of the time, a small rock and roll, go back to bed! I'll take this anytime rather than hurricanes! Funny how We justify why We live where We do, isn't it?? LOL
i don't have to deal with earthquakes or hurricanes... just plain old PA lol
You mean boring old PA? ;-) Just kidding!
Your funny, lol
I can say that. I used to live in PA.
it can be boring at times...:)
That's one of the most beautiful pictures of a flower I've ever seen...... lovely......they're not red or the kind that makes you "sleepy" or I'd say that picture should be in wizard of oz...... Must be really lovely in person...... :)
That had to be awesome to see in person. Beautiful beyond words.
