Has anyone heard about a potato from chile or peru called "camote"
Roger
potato "camote"
It's a sweet potato, Roger.
Ursula,I have heard about an "ordinary" potato that looks if you had put a lot of small potatoes together and make it to one, have you heard about it? I thought it could be this camote, but not.
Roger
Sorry Roger, no I have never heard about a potato like that. There are many heirloom potato species in the big island of Chiloé (southern Chile) that are not known in the Central Zone where I live.
This is what we know as 'camote':

This is a site I bookmarked some time ago. Maybe you should contact these people and ask them: http://www.chiloeweb.com/chwb/cet/index.html
Hope this info helps.
