To humus or not to humus

Cumming, GA(Zone 7a)

I am getting ready to pot up some of the cuttings I rooted, and I saw some Peat Humus at WallyWorld. Since I haven't used it before, I did a google search on it. I have found totally conflicting information. Some say peat humus is a "high quality sphagnum peat product", improves soil aeration and retains moisture. Others say it is much too heavy, impedes aeration, and should be avoided. I don't know what to think now. Have any of you used peat humus? Any suggestions as to using it as an ingredient for a potting mix?
Thanks,

I know that hydroponics use peat moss and vermerculite together and nothing else.
The peat does hold a lot of water.
It does need something mixed with it to help airate the roots such as fine bark mulch or fine aged wood chips. Some sand is suppose to help in drainage also.
So I am trying half peat and half commercial compost manure from walmart.
the compost manure has some wood chips and sand in it. Very little manure.

this is what i have found out searching for info. I havent found anyone yet who has tried it.
