vine identification

Chanute, KS(Zone 6a)

Can anyone tell me what this is?
A corner of my back fence is covered in it, it crept over , from the neighbor's fence, it looks like it's been there for years. The new neighbors are going to get rid of it all, to provide sun for a new rose garden.
I kind of like it, and I'm thinking about leaving some on my side, and possibly moving it to other parts of the yard, but I'd like to know what it is, so i can find more information about it.
Sorry, I don't have a digital camera, and the scanner smashed the flowers.

Hi Green,
I would guess it is probably the perennial sweet pea if it comes back each year.

What do you think?

Hmmm...

Well, the tendrils, leaves and flowers look like a pea of some sort.

However, those pods look strangely bean-ish.

If they are from the same plant, I don't think it is any of the Sweet Pea (Lathyrus) species.

Will investigate.

True,
my first thought was the dolichos pea by the flowers,

but the leaves were not correct.

That was my first thought, too, Donna.

Here is a page with a picture of the Everlasting Sweet Pea pods.

Bingo,
I think you nailed it! Well done!

edited after I realized I did not finish typing my thought! LOL Sorry.
You picture shows pods off to the left that look exactly like greenthumbs pods.

I dunno, those pods still don't quite look like pea pods to me.

But, maybe it is because they aren't quite ripe yet?

Here is a picture of the ripe pods and seeds from the pdb:

Thank you very much!
That's exactly what i have! The seed pods weren't ripe, but I have ripe pods that match the pictures in the PDB.

Your neighbor will have a tough time getting rid of them! lol...I hear their roots are the size of arms, and go to China!...lol...
I have the hot pink ones, but I sure do like the pale bi-colored ones in the Dave's pdb pictures link...
