I got seeds that resembled a bean type seed from a friend that did not know what it was except a vine, I planted and it's beautiful, big leaves thin vine stem and beautiful lavendar little flowers remind me of sweet peas how they bud out. I'd appreciate your help in identifying this beautiful vine.
the picture is the vine creeping onto a cable wire against the house wall from a planter I postioned up against my patio wall on the north side.
Anyone know what this vines name is?
Dolichos lablab purpurea-"Hyacinth bean vine"
Great vine. It is a legume.

Thank you Seedpicker that was fast. have a great evening!
I'm not sure if 8b get's much of an autumn, but in the Northeast these are very popular in the fall due to the beautiful purple bean color and the darkening of the vine itself. If you haven't yet gotten a seed pod, you'll be very impressed when you do as the color is stunning (I have a picture of one of my pods but am having trouble loading it). They are very easy to propigate if you let the pod dry on the vine picking when it turns brown.
