Rabbits ate my clematis right down to the ground. It was new this year and doing great. Is it likely to come back next spring?

It may even try sending up new growth now. I would dust it with something, rose dust or something to make it taste terrible to those rabbits! Put a little close knit fence around it now, if possible. They almost eliminated my new rosebush this spring, before I saw it had been chewed clear to the ground.
