I have a nice 30-35 foot tree form and would like to plant more. How do I tell the tree form from the shrub form when purchasing though. Is it better just to take cuttings from other mature tree form crepe myrtles than risk getting the wrong type?

Tree form or Shrub form Crepe Myrtle?
Under normal circumstances, crepe myrtles are naturally multi-trunked and shrubby. Tree forms are usually trained that way by judicious (and constant!) pruning early in the plant's life.
There are a number of different cultivars of crepe myrtles ranging in height of from 1' to 60' when mature. The plants should have information on mature heights. If not, then get the cultivar name, go back to your computer, and do a google search for the crepe myrtle variety. The mature height should be easy to find
