DH greasy work shirts! Help!!

My DH is a mechanic and I spend a fortune on 'Spray and Wash' as it seems to be the only thing that removes all the automotive grease and grime. Does anyone out there have a cheaper solution to this. They provide work shirts but they are made of a polyester blend and do not breath in our high temps. So he wears tee shirts. Please, any advice would be appreciated.
