I ordered one of each from Acorn Springs yesterday fullfilling a dream of many years. I am giving them to myself for my birthday which is a month away. (gotta have a good excuse for spending the money you know) LOL ;) This winter I will enjoy the added green to my sunroom. Today I will be going in there to re-arrange everything for the new trees. I don't look forward to moving the pond...lotta work.
Any good advice will be appreciated as these are my first citrus to care for.
Meyer Lemon and Satsuma Owari Mandarin
Meyer lemons are heavy feeders as they bear heavily while still young. Stock up on that citrus fertilizer, you will need it! Since the heaviest flush of citrus is in the winter (Nov - Feb), you can juice and freeze your excess; it will keep quite a long time. Meyers are very delicate in aroma and less acidic in taste than regular grocery store lemons, so they are good in some recipes but not in others. If you have ever tasted Moroccan cuisine, Meyers are the lemon of choice for salting and preserving, BTW.
