apple gourds

Heber Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

I grew these last year and I loved them. We painted them and gave them as Christmas gifts and they were darling. If you haven't grew them you need to they are wonderful and my children just loved watching them form the apples. Marie

Marie, how big are the gourds? That shape is very cute and I like the mottled green color as well. But they probably don't stay that color when they are dry, do they??

Claire they are about the size of the green "Granny Smith" apples. They will get larger with more water. But I like to keep them the size of regular apples. Mine last year dried a mottled light green- not really brown like most gourds will dry. I just love them. Great for Crafts! Marie
