Does anyone know why my poppies are drooping? The flower heads get all droopy and rot about 2 inches below the flower just before they bloom. It isn't affecting the whole plant, just selected blooms. No bugs that I can see, and the foliage is very healthy. Appreciate any help or suggestions.
Poppy rot
It sounds like a bacterial or fungal problem. Has it been wet? ... sometimes these problems are amplified in wet weather. I'd cut off and dispose of infected plant parts.
Poppysue, I forgot to "watch" this thread, and just now got back to it. thanks for your response. It's pretty much poured all summer in Vermont, so it may just be wet. It's got plenty of drainage and it's sisters are doing well. I keep deadheading the droopy flower heads before they bloom and that seems to help. I'll keep an eye on the whole plant. I'd hate to lose it...
