Coral Bells

Royal Oak, MI(Zone 5b)

I need help. I have coral bells throughout my front and back yard. The ones in my back yard are the dark leaves and look like an add from Miracle Grow. THe ones close to my house do just fine. However, I have 5 on a burm in front of boxwood. They are the green leaves with pink stalks. They are doing horrible. For the past two years they get their leaves and stalks and turn brown and look like they are dying. They face south. I do add Holly stuff for the boxwood. Is it that or the sun or any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Michelle

Hi, Michelle

Your question might be better served in the perennial forum, but to me, it sounds like they are getting too much sun and heat.

I agree. Coral Bells, aka Huchera (and a perennial) are shade lovers.

Welcome to DG, by the way!
