lirope seeds

Hurst, TX(Zone 7b)

Every year I see dark purple seeds following the blooms on my lirope. I've tried planting the seeds, with no luck. Does anyone know if lirope will grow from seeds and if not, what purpose do the seeds serve?

In answer to question, yes lirope will grow from seeds. I, too, wondered if they would and saved a jar full. My neighbors let their seeds drop and they have little seedlings everywhere. I plan to put mine in the propagation bed this fall and see what happens.

I have always been told to pinch back the flowers. Mine clump vigorously, and every two years I dig them up, soak them for a couple of hours to loosen the bublets and then separate them and replant. Let me know if you have any luck with seeds.
