More Sunflowers

Our black board fence is 6.5 ft, so these are really reaching for the sky this year :)

And these 'vanilla ice' just keep on blooming the whole summer :) We did have to re-seed them this past spring as the birds strip the seeds clean.

Dea, I especially like your vanilla ice "hedge"! I always grow a few sunflowers for the goldfinches. And every year, I have several volunteers that I never have the heart to pull out. Therefore, I have sunflowers in some very unusual places. So much for orderly gardening!

Your Sunflowers are amazing!

I've tried and tried, to get masses of sunflowers without much luck.

If I plant the seed directly in the ground, the rabbits eat them all. If I start them inside they just don't do much, and stay short and bloom small .......... that is if the rabbits don't eat them too.

I always seem to end up with a few volunteers, and they do the best of any.

I'd love to have masses like yours. How close did you plant those Vanilla Ice ones?
