preserving fresh basil

some time ago on this forum we were talking about different ways to preserve fresh picked basil. my wife got a tupperware bowl with a good tight lid. she placed the fresh basil inside the bowl without washing it or doing anything. then she placed the bowl into the frezer. today i looked at them. they are all completely frozen and they are as green as the day she picked them.
