Help with Clematis

I have a clematis that I think is in the wrong place. Can I transplant it? If so when is the best time? I don't know which Clematis it is.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Transplanting should be done in the Fall...when the temps are cooler.

Thanks Shirley!!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

One thing I have found out works well for Clematis is to put them in a spot where they get full sun, but their feet are shaded. They like it cool, down below. Planting another perennial in front of it helps alot.

Thanks Karrie, the problem with it's current location - too close to the fence gate. It's been latching on to the gate and moved back and forth. So I figure a more peaceful place will be better for it.
