Who belongs to these pawprints? Can you tell from the pictures? Something got into my small pond and knocked the plants around. I'm in the city, so wildlife is limited to squirrels, cats, dogs, skunks, and maybe racoon, but I haven't seen (or smelled) any of the last two.
Okay you trusty trackers!
Celia, the prints aren't very clear, but from the second photo, the track at the top sure looks like a raccoon to me. Good luck keeping it out!

Raccoon, see if your city would live trap it and deport it for you, you must have fish in your pond too. They are a nuisance in the city and urban areas, if your town won't do it you could rent a live trap at rental store and take him or her for a long ride into the country.
Thank you, that confirms my suspicions. Does anything deter them from the area? Someone suggested blood meal. How about 'Liquid Fence'? Oh boy, this pond was 'supposed to be enjoyment'!!! LOL!
Thanx!
My only experience was a few years back i lost close to 1,000 chickens, varying in age to a pack of raccoons, live trapped some and shot the rest, after that no problems. In the city u cant use a gun, not sure of any real chemical solution to keeping them out that wouldn't harm a pond.
