shade impatiens leaves and blossoms turning black

Brooklyn, NY

I planted some shade impatiens in a container and now the edges of the leaves and blossoms are turning black. Any ideas as to what this is? Nutritional deficit or disease?

Too much water? Dense soil?

I've had a lot of them for years and, with heavy rainfall, mine sometimes sit in several inches of water until it drains off. I don't recall them having your problem. They are pretty carefree for me as long as they have enough water.

Are they wet and slimy, or dry and crispy? Are they droopy? Are they the simple single bloom type, or the New Guinea type?
