Passion vine

How easy is it to start cuttings from this vine?

"Plants Plus" by George Seddon suggests:
Leaf bud cuttings are taken in spring. Remove 2 lengths of stem sip, about 10in/25cm. Cut into pieces so that each section has a leaf with 1 in/2.5cm of stem above the leaf stalk and 2 in/5 cm of stem below it. Dip the base of the cuttings in hormone rooting powder. Insert in a mixture of half loam potting compost and half sand so that the point where the leaf stalk joins the stem is at compost level. Place in a propagator at 70F/21C. New growth should appear after 4-6 weeks, showing that the cutting has rooted. Remove from the propagator and replant in loam potting compost.

Some will root easily in just water too. Otherwise use Calalily's pop bottle method. Works great.

Thanks for your responses. I started three from seed this spring and have friends that want, but I don't want to part with the three I have. I think they're big enough to take cuttings from now. So - off to find Calalily's method.

Taking a root cutting is another method to try. Of course finding a sucker would be *great*. ;)

Layering and grafting are other suggestions.

You know, I think I'll try layering first. I think it's the easiest. Can't hurt.

I bought one today at my uncles shop in a hanger can not waiy its covered in buds !!! does anyone know if it will go to seed and if they flower all summer??? thanks shawn

You need another variety to pollinate it Shawn (if it is a hybrid). Do you know what it's name is?

You prob. would have to hand pollinate as well (unless the right type of bee lives where you are). I have a number of different varieties and none were pollinated by any bees here. One variety would form what looked to be fruit but they were empty shells. :(
