what chews a moonflower vine and makes it totally disappear?

Prattville, AL(Zone 8a)

In Alabama we have these nasty little grasshoppers that will mow down Moonflower's & Morning glory's almost overnite.
I have to keep mine sprayed with Thiodaine (think I spelled it right)..lol
Hope you find the little buggers!

spinx moth9hummingbird moth) caterpillers( called horn worms). realy big ugly green ones. you have to go out at dusk to see them though. i posted somewhere on the id board about a monster eating mine plants. well these will eat the whole thing over night. they just dont eat moonvines though. daturas brugmansias and alot more things they like too.

good luck with it. our season hasnt started yet for them.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

How big was the vine Karrie. The tomato hornworm will only eat the tender part and leave the stem, etc. I'm wondering if you might have had a deer or some big critter that would take the whole plant.
