Vinca

Can someone tell me what's the difference between Vinca major and vinca minor? I can't tell what I have by comparing it the to pictures in the plants database.
Thanks

I was always told it was simply a matter of leaf size.
Major is larger than minor.

Hi Cathy,

Vinca Major trails 18 inches:

Vinca minor (or dwarf) only trails 10 inches:

It has been awhile since I grew these, but if I recall the leaves are bigger on the major too. All I do remember is how invasive it was & how it ended up EVERYWHERE! It can travel underground & end up on the other side of a cement driveway or patio. It is not a plant that you want to let loose.
Hope that helps,
Donna

Sorry Rikerbear, I guess I had my page open too long. I did not realize you had posted. You are exactly right. :)

And YOU are exactly right about it being an evil invader :-)
Pretty but evil LOL

Thanks for your help. I think I have the major vinca. And, here in our dry climate, it nicely adds green without much fuss. Whatever grows with minimal water is valued around here.
